The message of the Mulligan is "God forgives our sins once we have chosen Jesus Christ as our personal savior". The Old Pro outreach is designed to have Wally Armstrong and other former tour players participate with you, as the host or charity sponsor, and your guests as they experience a Mulligan in their walk with God. It is designed for the host to bring together seekers and golfers in Christ and let them experience a day or two of brotherhood.
Wally and the others love to share their testimony, faith and undaunted loyalty to God and man while at the same time having a unique golf experience. Groups can be as small as 3 and as large as 3,000. The program can be designed to meet your goals and can be held at your club, a near-by TPC property, a near-by Marriott resort or a local course of your choosing. It can also form a part of a larger event you are having at a location of your choice.
Here are a couple samples of outreach events held in the past, and we will use Wally’s name generically; each of our ‘outreach golf professionals’ is capable of all of the following activities.
Small groups 3-4 participants
- A small group you have invited to a Major event (Masters) and you want a Mulligan outreach. Wally has spent a couple hours on the range with each of your guest helping them with their game, had lunch, and then played 18 holes with your guests focusing on course management, shot making, mental concepts and other on-course behavior. Then a closing refreshment with questions of Wally on the game of golf and game of life.
- A one- day Mulligan event Wally does a one hour clinic, gives his testimony, spends an hour on the short game skills of each guest and then plays with the group after lunch. The 4 players play a two- man scramble, and Wally can invent shots for them to take along the way. This way he can work with them on specialty shots like bunkers, un-even lies, shots out of deep rough etc. Sort of a "skills challenge".
- A half day + program where your guests come to the course at 11:30, Wally does a one hour clinic before lunch and gives his testimony during lunch. Then the group plays a two-man scramble. This works well when there are two believers and two seekers. Wally will ‘kibitz’ along the way and share ‘tour stories.
Medium groups 5-10+
- These can be the same or modifications of the small group programs. The host determines the content of the outing. With medium size groups Wally will bring a second instructor when the program calls for instruction on the range and on the golf course.
Large Groups 30- 3000
- When there is a charitable golf event for any size field, Wally has autographed copies of one of his books for each participant as they register. He then goes out on a par three and hits a shot for each group after greeting and kibitzing with them. At the meal following the golf he gives his testimony along with some of his better "tour stories".
- Church family clinic after church, or any day, Wally does a clinic for families appealing to the kids as well as illustrating key swing techniques. He sets up a SNAG Course and everyone participates in a skills challenge with SNAG as well as golf. Kids love to see their parents hit a ball with a water balloon in front of the ball, or hit a ball covered by a ‘dixie cup’ or newspaper. Each family receives a copy of Wally’s new "Parents Guide to Kids Golf"
- Corporate Employee Conferences- Wally will do an outdoor or indoor clinic that can be seen by all, and then give his testimony before, during or after lunch. If a golf event follows, he can do his ‘par three shot’ fellowship or ride around in a cart and kibitz with all players during their round. Riding against the direction of play, he will meet every group.
And on and on and on. You tell us what you want and we will develop a program to meet your needs. We will treat Wally’s testimony to your audience, the nature of the event and your goals as the host. At the end of the day they will know they have been in the presence of a believer whose life is devoted to reaching out to others to hare the good news.
OUTREACH OPTIONS- CONTRIBUTION GUIDELINES
Wally Armstrong , Kent Brown, Rob Strano and others of our witnesses for Christ are thrilled to be invited to share their faith with business, church, professional and other groups throughout North America and abroad. Keeping their ministries going while providing adequately for their families is well understood, yet ‘the pros’ don’t want their testimony to have a price tag.
So as not to create an awkward situation for the host or our golf professional, we have developed a set of ‘contribution guidelines’ that seem appropriate. You may choose to contribute more or less depending on your level of satisfaction with the event.
