The Mulligan is a parable about the forgiveness of God. Paul McAllister, a very successful middle-aged business owner, is paired with Davis Love and 3 other amateurs in a golf event. His high opinion of his golf game is not in evidence as he plays the first 8 holes; he is "all-over" the course with poor drives, sculled and skied irons and poor putting. On the 9th hole, his long, straight drive is followed by an accurate iron to 4 ft of the pin. When he leaves his birdie putt short, he "loses it" and throws his putter. As he is storming toward his car Davis intercepts him and suggests that he meet the Old Pro, a friend of Davis’ deceased father, who can help Paul get his game and life together.
